China Airlines to expand Kaohsiung – Tokyo Narita service in April 2024

China Airlines 737-800
While on the existing flights China Airlines uses A321neos, on the upcoming flights it will use 737-800s.

Currently, China Airlines operates daily flights between Kaohsiung, Taiwan’s third most populous city, and Tokyo Narita. Starting on April 19, 2024, the airline will add three additional weekly rotations, increasing the weekly total to 10 roundtrips.

While originally China Airlines planned to add the extra flights during the 2023 winter schedule, that did not materialize.

The newly added flights will operate as follows:

  • CI126 / Kaohsiung – Tokyo Narita / 12:45PM – 5:15PM / Wed, Fri, Sun
  • CI127 / Tokyo Narita – Kaohsiung / 6:40PM – 9:40PM / Wed, Fri, Sun

China Airlines will use Boeing 737-800 aircraft on the newly added rotations. With that, depending on which of China Airlines’ two 737-800 configurations is deployed, each of the new rotations will offer 158 or 161 seats including eight in business class.

The new flights will complement China Airlines’ existing daily rotation on the route which runs as follows:

  • CI102 / Kaohsiung – Tokyo Narita / 8:00AM – 12:30PM
  • CI103 / Tokyo Narita – Kaohsiung / 1:30PM – 4:30PM

The existing rotation is operated using Airbus A321neos, which can seat a total of 180 passengers including 12 in business class.

In addition to Kaohsiung, China Airlines also connects Taipei Taoyuan with Tokyo Narita and Taipei Songshan with Tokyo Haneda, each multiple times a day. Two other airlines, EVA Air and Tigerair, serve the Kaohsiung – Tokyo Narita route.
