British Airways will reduce the frequency of its flights between London Heathrow and Tokyo Haneda from the current two daily rotations to 11 weekly from October 27, 2024. For approximately a month in early 2025, the airline will reduce the frequency further to just one daily rotation.
From October 27, 2024, excluding the period between January 10 and February 4 in the direction from London and a day later in the other direction, British Airways will reduce the rotation departing London around noon from the current daily to four weekly flights. With that, it will offer the following flights between the two cities:
- BA7 / London Heathrow – Tokyo Haneda / 9:05AM – 7:35AM+1
- BA5 / London Heathrow – Tokyo Haneda / 11:50AM – 10:25AM+1 / Mon, Tue, Sat
- BA8 / Tokyo Haneda – London Heathrow / 9:35AM – 3:40PM
- BA6 / Tokyo Haneda – London Heathrow / 1:15PM – 7:15PM / Tue, Fri, Sun
Between January 10 and February 4, 2024, in the direction from London and a day later in the direction from Tokyo, British Airways will operate either the BA7/BA8 or BA5/BA6 rotation depending on the day of the week:
- BA7 / London Heathrow – Tokyo Haneda / 9:05AM – 7:35AM+1 / Tue, Wed, Fri, Sat, Sun
- BA5 / London Heathrow – Tokyo Haneda / 11:50AM – 10:25AM+1 / Mon, Thu
- BA8 / Tokyo Haneda – London Heathrow / 9:35AM – 3:40PM / Mon, Wed, Thu, Sat, Sun
- BA6 / Tokyo Haneda – London Heathrow / 1:15PM – 7:15PM / Tue, Fri
In addition to reducing the frequency, British Airways will also downgauge the BA7/BA8 rotation currently operated by Airbus A350-1000 aircraft to the Boeing 787. It is not clear whether the airline will use the 787-8 (214 seats), 787-9 (216 seats), or 787-10 (256 seats) on the rotation instead of the 331-seater A350-1000.
The BA5/BA6 frequency will continue to be operated by Boeing 787 aircraft (currently it is operated by the 787-9).
In addition to British Airways, the airline’s oneworld partner JAL operates the route twice a day. Star Alliance’s ANA flies between Haneda and Heathrow once a day.
