On April 19, 2024, ANA announced that Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism approved its plans to establish a joint venture with Singapore Airlines. The Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore’s approval is still pending. Once granted, they plan to apply for approvals from authorities in other countries the joint venture plans to serve.
Once fully approved and operational, the joint venture will cover five markets from/to Japan: Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, and Australia. The joint venture will cover non-stop flights between Japan and the five countries, flights between Singapore and the four other countries above (Malaysia, Indonesia, India, and Australia), and domestic ANA flights connecting to/from the joint venture’s international flights.
Flights operated by ANA’s low-cost Peach and Air Japan flights operated under the AirJapan brand, and flights operated by Singapore Airlines’ low-cost subsidiary Scoot will not be a part of the joint venture.
The two Star Alliance airlines first signed a partnership agreement in January 2020 and wanted to start a joint venture from the 2021 winter schedule.
