ANA Mileage Club to terminate partnership with SAS in late August 2024

ANA Mileage Club will terminate its partnership with Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) at the end of August 2024, ANA announced on August 1, 2024. The two airlines will continue their codeshare partnership in October 2024 and beyond.

The change reflects SAS changing alliances, leaving Star Alliance on August 31 and joining SkyTeam on September 1, 2024, following Air France-KLM’s acquisition of a stake in the airline. Whether ANA Mileage Club and SAS will form a separate, bilateral partnership at a later point remains unclear.

Members of ANA Mileage Club will be able to credit miles for SAS flights they take up to August 31, 2024, to the program. They will also be able to do so retroactively until September 30, 2024, beyond which point they will not be able to credit miles for SAS flights to ANA Mileage Club at all.

Separately, ANA Mileage Club members will be able to book award tickets on SAS until August 31, 2024, regardless of whether the flights they book depart before or after that deadline (up to August 31, 2025). Similarly, members will be able to change SAS award flights until August 31, 2024. They will be able to refund them as per the tickets’ conditions beyond that point too.

Lastly, ANA Mileage Club members will be able to enjoy their status benefits on SAS flights until August 31, 2024.

The change comes just months before ANA is planning to launch flights to one of SAS hubs, Stockholm.
