On July 4, 2024, ANA announced that on June 24, 2024, it started providing new safety vets with fans to ground staff and maintenance staff at approximately 50 airports around Japan. The airline is doing so to help the staff combat the intense summer heat.

The airline started trialing the vests produced by Midori Anzen Co., Ltd. last year. Having found that the vests do indeed help with cooling while also maintaining the mobility needed by the staff to do their duties, ANA decided to roll them out throughout its domestic network.

The fans in the vests work for up to five hours in “high power” mode on a single charge.

On the same day ANA made the announcement, the temperature in Tokyo topped 35 degrees Celsius and a nationwide high of 39.3 degrees Celsius was recorded in Shizuoka.
