ANA Cargo will start using the newly constructed Cargo Building 8 at Tokyo Narita Airport from October 21, 2024. At the same time, it will consolidate operations from six existing buildings into “ANA Cargo Base+” consisting of the new building and previously built Cargo Building 7.
The new building located to the north of runway 16R/34L right next to Cargo Building 7 is owned by the airport’s operator Narita International Airport Corporation, which rents it to ANA.
When first announcing planned construction of the new building in September 2023, the two companies said in a statement that “NAA and ANA will utilize Cargo Building No. 8 to enhance Narita Airport’s role as an Asian gateway and bolster the international competitiveness of cargo by strengthening both exports and imports to and from Japan.”
Spanning 61,000 square meters overall including 38,000 square meters of warehouse space, Cargo Building 8 is ANA’s largest cargo facility. The building is equipped with autonomous vehicles for moving cargo around.
In addition to allowing ANA to expand cargo processing capacity, the opening of the new building and consolidation of operations to “ANA Cargo Base+” will allow ANA to reduce the time required to connect cargo from one international flight to another from the current 300 minutes to 180 minutes.
