On April 23, 2024, ANA announced it entered into a codeshare partnership with Air India. On the same day, selected Air India flights also started to be sold under ANA flight numbers and vice versa for departures on May 23, 2024, and beyond.
While the two airlines are already partners by being members of Star Alliance, the new codeshare partnership will make it easier to combine flights of the two carriers into a single ticket.
To begin with, Air India flight numbers were added to ANA’s daily flights between Tokyo Haneda and Delhi and its three weekly flights between Tokyo Narita and Mumbai. ANA flight numbers were added to Air India’s four weekly flights between Delhi and Tokyo Narita.
With that, the two airlines combined will offer 14 weekly flights between the two countries including 11 between Tokyo and Delhi and three between Tokyo and Mumbai. The only other airline connecting Japan with India is JAL, which offers daily flights between Haneda and Delhi. In the past, Vistara also operated the same route.
The codeshare partnership between ANA and Air India does not cover domestic flights in either of the countries at this point. The airlines, however, expressed an interest in further expanding the agreement in the future.
