On July 3, 2024, American Express announced it will open its first Centurion Lounge in Japan in 2025. The lounge will be located in Tokyo Haneda Airport’s Terminal 3, the main terminal used for international flights.

The new 683-square-meter lounge will be located airside (after security and immigration) on Terminal 3’s fourth floor and have 122 seats. According to the company, the lounge will feature design incorporating Japanese traditions, artisan culture, and art, while also offering food and beverages allowing passengers to experience Japanese culinary culture.

It will be available to those departing from Terminal 3 and holding an American Express Platinum, Business Platinum, or Centurion credit card.

When announcing the new lounge, Audrey Hendley, the President of Global Travel & Lifestyle Services at American Express noted that “Especially among millennials and Gen Z, travel demand to Japan is increasing and so the opening of a Centurion Lounge at Haneda Airport is a significant addition to American Express’ global lounge network.”

Currently, American Express has 28 Centurion Lounges in the United States and eight other countries including Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Hong Kong, India, Mexico, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.
