On October 28, 2024, Air Tahiti Nui resumed flights between Papeete and Tokyo Narita.

Going forward, the airline plans to connect the two cities twice a week as follows (no service between June 23 and August 29, 2025):

  • TN88 / Papeete – Tokyo Narita / 8:35AM – 3:30PM+1 / Mon, Thu
  • TN87 / Tokyo Narita – Papeete / 8:00PM – 11:50AM / Tue, Fri

Air Tahiti Nui operates the route using the sole aircraft type in its fleet, the Boeing 787-9 equipped with 294 seats including 30 in business, 32 in premium economy, and 232 in economy class.

While Air Tahiti Nui resumed the route in October 2023 after a three and a half year hiatus following its pandemic-related March 2020 suspension, it suspended the route again in May 2024. No other airline connects the two cities.

Tokyo Narita is the airline’s only destination in Japan. That said, until the fall of 2008, its Papeete – Tokyo Narita flights used to continue on to Osaka Kansai.
